Redcar & Cleveland PCT

 ABCA Systems recently supplied the security package as part of the Mechanical and Electrical installation by Emcor Engineering Services (EES) to the £32M Sir Robert McAlpine built Redcar Primary Care Hospital in Teesside. The Package included CCTV, Site-wide Networked Door Access with multiple audio and audio video intercom system integration, 18 individual intruder alarm systems, Staff Attack, a managed channel Television distribution system and multiple Induction loop systems for the hearing impared.

A Site wide CCTV System covering both the internal corridors and circulation areas and the external perimeter of the building with static anti vandal domes. The extended site grounds are covered with fully functional PTZ domes mounted on 6m towers. Multiple control positions were installed with networkable keyboards and an array of TFT monitors to control the system. The Addressable DVR were remoted in a self contained rack assembly. The 4 Independent GP surgeries on the site also have their own CCTV systems installed with their own dome cameras, recording and control equipment.

The Door Access Solution provided tailored control of 21 doors to all departments for the 160+ staff on site who will all be issued with proximity fob to allow access to allocated doors. All main entrances and Inpatient wards have video intercoms integrated into the access system which allow out of hours communications and remote access to doors for visitors. Other audio intercoms were also installed to the 4 GP surgeries, the Staff and facilities management entrances and all the carparks.

The Staff attack system comprises over 2800 devices and covers every inch of the hospital including the external courtyards and even the walk-in fridge in the kitchens. The system is primarily infrared and every member of staff will be supplied with a personal transmitter that will trigger an alarm condition. The Quantec solution is separated into 6 attack systems and all are integrated into a Radio paging system which provides security with a wall mounted display and belt worn pagers.

Individual Intruder Alarm systems were installed in 18 departments. Each stand alone grade 2 system has PIR detection and magnetic door contacts with internal and external sounders. All fire doors are integrated with localised alarms managed by the intruder systems.

The TV system is a channel managed digital terrestrial master antenna system giving 16 freeview channels to all reception areas, sitting rooms and lounges along with all the bedrooms in the inpatients wards. All the reception areas and staff bases, sitting rooms and lounges also have audio induction loops fitted to assist the hearing impaired.

ABCA Systems deployed a fully supervised 8 man team with full project management support onto the site full time during the 9 month build period. The team completed the install 2 weeks in advance of the handover date and assisted in EES achieving practical completion bang on the target date.
