Hearing Augmentation

ABCA Systems are also specialists in the field of Hearing Augmentation systems. There are two main technologies used for the provision of hearing augmentation:
• Audio Frequency Inductive Loop Systems
• Infrared Systems
Audio Frequency Inductive Loop Systems (AFILS)
AFILS are the most common form of Hearing Augmentation in the UK. These systems rely directly on the use of a standard hearing aid (switched to the ‘T’ or telephone position) as the receiver. The system comprises a loop of wire around the required area connected to a specialist AFILS amplifier.
Specialist designs can be accommodated to allow coverage with different signals in adjacent rooms using low loss techniques, and for systems that require multiple amplifiers and/or large areas (>1,000 sq m).
ABCA have provided solutions for many applications from a simple ticket counter through to a custom engineered system to cover 15,000 square meters.
Infra-red Systems
In environments where the use of inductive loop systems is not practical, it is possible to implement solutions through the use of Infra-red technology.
This type of solution has been implemented by ABCA at large venues such as School halls, where coverage by conventional means was impractical. Systems of these types require specialist knowledge to implement successfully.
Accessories
ABCA can also assist with accessories for these systems including calibrated test receivers, loop tape, information signs, and neck loops to allow the coupling of an audio source to a standard hearing aid.
